Vintage Azilal region area rug from the high Atlas mountains of Morocco is rare because of its size and exhuberant detailing. 


Handwoven by a Berber woman in the 1970's the rug's plentitude of symbols represent a happy and content home: center symbol representing a man and a woman, lozenges shapes protection from the evil eye, trees representing an easy life, the Yaz representing the Berber "Free Man", the cross representing "Blessing from God". 

This Azilal rug is one of the most finely detailed seen on the market. 

The large size of the rug and amount of undyed, extremely rare black sheep's wool, makes this rug a collectors or designers home masterpiece. 

Because it s 100% sheep wool, it still allows you to use it during the warmer months as sheep wool is known to stay cool.
